Graduation in Marine Engineering In Merchant Navy

Qualification

  • Graduation in marine engineering BE or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 50% marks in the final year.
  • A full-time BE or B.Tech in all Mechanical Engineering streams, such as Mechanical and Automation, Mechanical and Electronics, Mechanical and Automobile, etc. However, the word “Mechanical” should appear first, indicating that Mechanical Engineering is the core, and the second subject is the elective.
  • Candidates with a degree in all Naval Architecture streams, such as Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding, etc. However, the word “Naval Architecture” should appear first, indicating that Naval Architecture is the core, and the second subject is the elective.
    The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in English language in 10th, 12th, or the Degree Exam.
  • Maximum 28 years.
  • Candidates should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms, with eyesight up to (+ or -) 2.5 with no color blindness. Minimum height should be 157 centimeters.

  • 1-year training Exempted from appearing in MEO Class IV Part A examination
  • 6 months of duly documented sea service as Assistant Marine Engineer Officer in charge of an engineering watch
  • Completion of advanced safety training courses: AFF, PSCRB, MFA, and a three-month preparatory course (optional) to obtain Marine Engineering Officer Class IV Certificate of Competency

  • Obtain a watchkeeping certificate from the D.G. Shipping Govt. of India.
  • Obtain NCV 2nd mate, sail as in near coastal voyage/obtaining class-IV NCV, sail as 4th engineer in Coastal Voyage.
  • Total sea time of 24 months appears in the NCV 2nd Mate (Deck)/Class IV near coastal voyage exam (engine).

  • 12-month training on-board from Marine Dept.
  • Can rise up to the rank of Master Marine/Marine Engineer.

  • After a total sea time of 24 months, appear for NCV 2nd mate (Deck)/appear for class 4 NCV (Engine)
  • Upon obtaining 2nd mate, sail as 2nd Officer/obtaining class 4 certificate, sail as 4th engineer (SAL : 3500$ – 5500$)
  • Master Mariner/Chief engineer (SAL: 8500$ -12000$)
